Established on August 31, 1979 as a civil society with legal entity, China Association for Quality (CAQ) is a national and professional non-profit social organization formed by organizations and individuals on their own initiative who are committed to quality management and innovation. Mr. Jia Fuxing, a member of the 11th National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), is the President of CAQ.

Since its foundation, CAQ has been putting efforts into various work, including the popularization of knowledge, skills and methods on quality management, the promotion of Total Quality Management, the publicity and implementation of Quality Management System standards, and the dissemination of Performance Excellence Model; it has also been encouraging organizations to launch quality improvement activities such as Quality Control Circle, Lean Management, Six Sigma, Field Management, etc., and stimulating firms to implement Customer Satisfaction Project, develop good quality culture, and cultivate quality brands. The great amount of effective work has won CAQ wide recognition from the government, business community and other sectors of society. Its core business covers quality research, quality training, international quality exchange and service, quality evaluation, quality consultation, quality certification, quality publicity, quality media, quality culture development and brand cultivation.

CAQ has many member organizations including China Baowu Steel, Haier, Gree, Xiaomi, FAW, Yankuang, Shanghai Mitsubishi and Wuliangye, etc. Under CAQ’s initiative and support, quality associations are established in different regions, sectors and industries across China, forming a national system of quality associations.

CAQ is a coordination committee member of International Convention on QC Circles (ICQCC), a board member of Asian Network for Quality (ANQ), a member of Global Excellence Council (GEC), a round-table member of International Quality Innovation Competition, World Partnership of American Society for Quality (ASQ) and European Organization for Quality (EOQ), Global Partnership of European Foundation for Quality Management (EFQM). It has established close relationship with well-known international quality organizations such as JUSE and domestic institutes and universities including China Academy of Science, Tsinghua University, Beijing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics and Renmin University.

We’re irreplaceable because we’re professional; we are trustworthy because we always conform to standards. CAQ has won the title of Advanced National Industry Association, Advanced National Civil Organization and Advanced National Social Organization for many times, and has been rated as the 5A National Industry Association in 2009 and 2016 by the Ministry of Civil Affairs. In 2015, CAQ was again awarded the title of Advanced National Social Organization by the Ministry of Civil Affairs.

The 19th National Congress of the Communist Party of China has made clear that we must put quality at priority and make China strong in quality. This gives guiding principles, strong impetus and higher requirements to quality work in a new era. In making plans and strategies, CAQ will integrate quality work into the bigger picture of the Party and China more conscientiously. In serving the great cause of socialism with Chinese characteristics for a new era, CAQ will achieve its healthy and sustainable development. It will remain true to its original aspiration, keep its mission firmly in mind, and adhere to the development path that is market-based, professional and international with high IT application as well as coordination. Meanwhile, CAQ will keep a higher morale, enter the era of quality and build China into a country strong in quality, in order to make newer and greater contributions to building a modern socialist country and realizing the Chinese Dream of national rejuvenation.
